Abu Dhabi‑headquartered EQIQ has unveiled Boxy, Iraq’s first AI‑powered logistics aggregator, emerging from a year in stealth with a $1.5M pre‑seed investment from the venture fund and venture builder.
Co‑founded in 2024 by Ahmed Baqer (ex‑Careem Iraq, Northladder) and Mehrshad Pezeshk (15+ years in tech‑driven logistics), Boxy aims to unify Iraq’s 1,500+ last‑mile couriers into a single intelligent shipping platform.
Launched in October 2024, Boxy has posted consecutive high double‑digit monthly growth and doubled its merchant base last month alone. Its AI‑matching engine routes shipments to the optimal courier based on merchant preferences and carrier performance, replacing fragmented dashboards and negotiations with a single integrated solution. Onboarding time is cut from weeks to hours.
EQIQ, which co‑founded the venture as part of its greenfield strategy, says Boxy is a foundation block in its plan to scale Iraq’s digital infrastructure across logistics, fintech, and e‑commerce. The $1.5M investment will fund proprietary tech development and expansion across Baghdad and provincial cities.
“Iraq needs a one‑stop‑shop logistics platform,” said Baqer. “Boxy helps merchants find the best shipping option per order using real‑time data, eliminating the risk of relying on a single carrier.”
