Moroccan super-app startup Ora Technologies has acquired Cathedis, a Casablanca-based last-mile delivery platform, for an undisclosed amount as it pushes to build an integrated e-commerce and fintech ecosystem.
Founded in 2023 by Omar Alami, Ora’s super-app bundles P2P payments, an e-commerce marketplace, on-demand services, chat, and social networking into a single platform. Its food delivery unit Kooul has recorded more than 15,000 active clients in the past 10 months, while its mobile wallet Ora Cash has amassed 50,000 accounts in just five months. The wallet is already being used by riders to digitise Morocco’s cash-on-delivery-heavy e-commerce market.
The startup raised $1.9 million pre-Series A in March 2025, followed by a $7.5 million Series A in July 2025, funding earmarked to expand its last-mile delivery operations and strengthen its digital cash collection infrastructure.
By acquiring Cathedis, which itself closed a Series A just months earlier, Ora takes direct control of logistics—a critical piece of the e-commerce value chain. The move allows Ora to offer a seamless end-to-end experience on its Kooul platform, spanning everything from digital payments to doorstep delivery.
The acquisition positions Ora to compete more aggressively in Morocco’s fast-digitising retail and fintech markets, where the combination of payments, e-commerce, and logistics is increasingly seen as a winning formula.
