AILA, the Riyadh-based edtech, has raised a $3 million pre-Series A led by Rua Growth Fund, with Jordan's Jo Academy joining as a strategic investor alongside 500 Global, through its Sanabil-anchored MENA fund, Bunat Ventures and Fikr Ventures.
The platform identifies learning gaps, personalises practice, and adjusts support to each student's progress, while giving teachers and school leaders visibility into where intervention is needed.
Its products span AILA Tests, an AI-native platform for personalised exam preparation in schools, and AILA Labs, an R&D unit developing and testing new AI-powered education tools.
The proceeds will fund expansion into new regional and international markets, further development of the learning experience, and reach across students, schools and education systems.
"This investment lets us bring personalised, AI-native learning to more students at a moment when education systems across the region are rethinking what's possible with technology," said CEO Yousef Alsayed.
Jo Academy participation’s is noteworthy. Founded in 2014, the Amman company built a subscription marketplace connecting students with teachers that captured more than 35% of Jordan's Tawjihi exam-preparation market, and is itself pushing into Saudi Arabia with an AI-powered platform after Rua Growth Fund and the Jordan Capital and Investment Fund acquired a significant minority stake for $28 million last year.
Rua leading AILA's round with Jo Academy alongside effectively links the two edtech bets across the corridor. "Arabic-speaking students deserve learning experiences built for them, not just translated for them," said Jo Academy CEO Alaa Jarrar, citing AILA's traction with Saudi schools.
Founded in 2023 by Alsayed, Abdulaziz Bin Mugayel and Nouf Mugayel, AILA’s last publicly disclosed round was a $1.15 million pre-seed in October 2024 led by Sabah Hub with White Hill Capital and Saudi angels.
