1. Ego: keep it in check.
It bears repeating: there is little room for big egos in a founding team. As Mostafa put it bluntly, ego has no place when you are trying to build something seminal.
That doesn’t mean co-founders will never feel proud or opinionated, only that they must be willing to set ego aside for the greater good.
In practice, that can mean taking on tasks far below your pay grade, admitting when your co-founder’s idea is stronger, or sharing the spotlight when credit is due.
Mohamed (Grubtech) gave a great example. Despite being the CEO and the older, more experienced partner in his duo, he says:
